Not surprisingly - at least not to me! -- the study finds that in a comparison of studies over the past 12 years, they can now say with some degree of qualitative certainty that: "On average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction".

While the study related to the academic sector, and not specifically to corporate settings, it's safe to say that these students represent the future corporate learners. These learners will soon expect quality online learning as a key method of gaining the knowledge to perform and excel in their jobs. We predict that as the title of Corporate Trainer evolves into Knowledge Facilitators -- who will support the transfer of knowledge through multiple delivery modes -- a blended learning approach will also emerge.

A combination of classroom or face-to-face community interaction and networking, along with video/online training to facilitate consistently available, virtually monitored and cost-effective training will evolve that both pleases all constituents and accommodates all types of learners. It would be the best of both worlds.

Beyond the initial findings, the article, in summary, says:

•Online education can be better tailored to individual students than classroom training
•Students find online training "more engaging and useful"
•Students can "learn by doing" more effectively with online training than in a classroom setting
•Online training will evolve much more rapidly in the next few years, because of social networking
•Eventually, online learning will create communities of learners, who will help each other, by teaching each other, online as well as in the classroom

This clearly shows the benefits of online learning. If you haven't already done so, check out the benefits of online learning.

Finish That Degree...

Finishing your college degree may seem out of reach, but it really isn't. Today, there are more options that ever for completing your degree or getting schooled in a different field. Enter online learning. Did you know that even traditional institutions offer online learning options?

Whether you want to start small or go all out, online learning provides the flexibility you need to succeed. The benefits of online education are many:

1. Flexible schedule
2. Many course and program options
3. Working from the comfort of your own home

For individuals who are still working or have commitments during the day, online learning gives you a good deal of flexibility. Assignments are usually due at the end of a day without and specific guidelines on when you can work on them. This allows you to schedule your own time based on your personal schedule.

Online programs also offer a variety of courses. Work with a counselor at the institution (online or off) that you're considering to find the fastest way towards that degree. You may also qualify for credit by examination of be given credits for previous experience.

The best part about learning online is that you don't have to drive or take public transportation. As long as you have an internet enabled computer you're good to go. And if you don't have one, simply visit your closest library to complete and submit your assignments.

If you want to finish that degree, consider the online learning option.

Going To School.. But the reality is that learning online is just as challenging. This is recognized by both traditional institutions - now offering online learning programs, and colleges like University of Phoenix who provide the majority of their programs online.

The great part about online learning is that your learning fits your schedule. It is must more flexible than traditional programs and often times allows you to continue working. If you're unemployed and want to go to school full time, you can also benefit from online learning courses. Many schools offer full-time and part-time programs. Simply find the program that meets your needs.

Going to school online is a great option for anyone interested in completing a degree or going to school to learn a new skill. Start by researching your options online and then consider calling a handful of schools to answer more specific questions. Now Is The Time

If you are thinking about going back to school, now is the time to consider online learning. Although many people think that online learning programs are easier than traditional programs, the fact is they are equally challenging. In fact, many online programs are more difficult than classroom courses.

However, online learning offers some benefits that other types of programs do not - flexibility. If you want to succeed online you must be prepared for a different type of learning. Many people are willing to take on this challenge in exchange for the flexibility that only learning provides. Learn in the evenings, weekends, or at select times.

Online programs have due dates, assignments, and many of the other requirements of traditional programs but you can complete them from the comfort of your own home. This added flexibility is paramount for those who are working or have a need to stay close to home (childcare, etc.).

Before starting any online program, learn about program requirements and the type of schedule you will need to keep. By doing so you can find a program that meets your needs and your existing schedule. Traditional programs do not offer this type of flexibility.

Give yourself adequate to investigate all of your online learning options as this is not a one size fits all decision. Do online research and speak to school or program representatives. Your online learning needs to fit your lifestyle and more often than not, you can find a learning solution that does.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://onlineschoolsreview.blogspot.com/2009/08/going-to-school-online-now-is-time.html' title='Going To School Online? Based on his experience, he feels pretty strongly that jobs in his specialty won't come back for a very long time.

We talked through a variety of options and I recommended taking a lower paying job while getting a degree in something else. By taking a job at a lower salary, he could have some money coming in (to cover his mortgage, car payments, etc.) and at the same time be planning for the future.

One of the greatest benefits of getting a degree online is that most programs are designed for individuals who work on a regular basis AND want to complete their degrees or get educated in a different area than currently employed.

The appeal of getting your degree online is the flexibility it affords. If you're considering a career change, you may find more online programs that provide the level of flexibility ideal for your situation. The key is to do plenty of research and have as many conversations as possible with educators familiar with the needs of working adults.

You will quickly discover many options for getting the degree you want. Last year the Wall Street Journal report of a Kaplan Education study of 500 top college admissions departments revealed the following:

· 10% percent looked at social-networking sites to evaluate applicants.
· 38% acknowledged being “negatively affected” by what they saw.
· 25% of admission personnel were impressed by what they saw.

These stats have led an increasing number of prospective students to take a long, hard look at their online social media behavior and in some cases to remove or change postings. If you are considering "cleaning up" your act, you may want to keep these points in mind.

1. Photos say a lot. Make sure that your photos aren't too edgy. This can have a negative impact on your persona.

2. Lay off the curse words. Today many individuals are using abbreviated language and curse words on their posts. Keep it clean if you want your image to be clean.

3. Don't be overly structured. Don't create your facebook page to only appeal to admissions officers. They want to find people who are well rounded, know how to socialize and aren't overly structured.

Social media is now a resource used by colleges, employers, and others in your social circles. Be yourself but be cognizant of who may be looking at your information and for what purposes.

Online Learning Success

Are you succeeding online? Success in online learning can be determined by course completion rates and results achieved. If you complete a course and earn a passing grade, then you’ve achieve the objective of online learning. Keep in mind that a passing grade means that you are ready to take the next course but not always. Consider taking supplemental courses if you are still not comfortable with the material you are responsible for learning online.

Some people wonder if that is really a good way to measure online learning success. I think it's a valuable approach and believe that the learner needs to consider whether or not the information learned supports the intended outcome. If you're looking to change careers or complete a degree in a specific discipline, does the information serve you? Said another way, are you prepared to move to the next course in your curriculum?

To be successful in online learning, you need to be committed, stay on task, possess the necessary reading and writing skills and be able to work independently. If you have those skills, the next, most important thing is to have a vested interest in your own success. Okay, what are you going to do about it? You could certainly look for a new job but that might take a while. There aren't too many jobs out there right now and a recent survey I read said that most people are waiting to leave their dead end jobs when the economy picks up.

That's certainly an option. You can wait or you can go back to school and either complete your degree or get educated in a different discipline. There are so many options for returning to school that it's really worth looking into. Consider what you'd like to do compared to what you are doing now.

If you would rather be doing something else, you should begin by researching the education requirements. You can do this by searching online and then reaching out to some schools to determine if your existing credits may work towards your new degree or if you'll have to start from scratch.

Learn all you can about the educational requirements and costs. Once you know what it takes, consider the investment. When you graduate, what will you make? Will you be happy? Can you justify the expense?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then consider going to school online. No one can take away your education and it's an investment that can pay huge dividends. Whether you're looking for a certificate, degree, or degree completion, online learning may be the option that fits your schedule and your budget better than any other.

To get started, begin researching college and programs online. I think the best place to start is with a Google search oriented around the field your considering. Try to be as specific as possible. For example, if you are considering something in the health field, don't start your search with "health". Rather, get specific. What type of health career are you looking for? Physician's assistant? Nurse practitioner? The more specific you are the more success you will have.

After finding some schools or online programs that may meet your needs. Do your research online but also call the institution. You want to make sure they are accredited and offer some really good options for courses, payment, etc.

The most important step to completing your degree or getting retooled is to take the first step - to get started. Decide what you want and start searching today.

Going to School Online In the 21st Century

Going to school online is becoming more commonplace. Rather, you need a specific goal in mind if you are going to make a large investment like completing a college degree or changing careers. Before considering an online education, keep the end in mind. Do you want to earn a degree so that you're worth more in the job market? Are you looking for a career change that requires a new credential set?

No matter what purpose you have in mind, realize that an online education can be quite costly. If you have a specific goal however, and know what that goal is worth to you from a financial perspective, you can definitely determine what you're willing to pay. It's all about cost benefit. Don't spend thirty thousands dollars for a diploma if you plan on working a job that pays minimum wage!

Consider the outcome you're trying to achieve and the educational opportunity that's right for you. Even local colleges and community colleges offer 'online education' so start with your goals and needs - then find the educational opportunity that meets them.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://onlineschoolsreview.blogspot.com/2009/06/going-to-school-online-is-it-for-you.html' title='Going To School Online.. As more individuals lose their jobs they are considering the prospect of changing careers. This can only be done through formal training which is often provided by career schools. Community colleges and local universities can also provide retraining.

The idea of taking on a new profession can seem a bit overwhelming. This is where online education comes in. With a focus on career, online schools are much better equipped to help you with the retraining process. Most programs have a very specific curriculum to position for a job upon graduation. Additionally, they have a number of options that can make an online education affordable.

Even though most online schools don't have a lot of financial resources to offset the cost of tuition, they will give you credit for work experience. You can also earn credit by testing out of certain courses or requirements. This lowers the overall cost of tuition and can save you money.

If you are considering retraining or changing careers, do your research online. There are many options you can choose from and find the option that is both affordable and a good fit.

Going To School Online

Is it true that you can get a good education online? This sounds good in theory but is rarely true.

Online courses and programs have to go through the same accreditation as physical schools and are often more rigorous. As a result, students sometimes find online courses more difficult to complete and are therefore stuck with re-evaluation the mode by which they learn. Here are three things to consider before registering for an online course or program:

1. Are you disciplined? To succeed online you will need to stick to a pretty disciplined schedule of doing assignments, participating in activities and so on. You won't have a professor tapping you on the should every time something needs to get done.

2. Manage expectations of difficulty. Don't think that your online course is going to be easy. In fact, it may be one of the most difficult courses you've ever taken. None-the-less manage you expectations before you begin.

3. Communicate with professors and administration. Even though you're the only one sitting in front of your computer screen, there are live individuals who can help you with your needs. If you're having any difficulty, contact the school, professor, and others in the program. This can help you feel connected even when learning online.

No matter what your goals, consider online education. Before doing so make sure that you're ready for an online learning experience. Talk to school administrators and learn as much as you can about learning online.

Online Schools Are A Dime A Dozen...

Or maybe not. Going to school online should be a unique experience. In fact, going to school online isn't for everyone. If requires discipline, self motivation, and a number of other skills that you may or may not possess.

Before you consider going to school online, make a list of traits you possess. Are you persistent? Can you work independently? These traits and many like them can be your predictor of success. Before starting any online program, speak to the admissions director and ask what traits the most success students possess. This can give you a good idea of what it takes to succeed.

Another thing you can do is ask to speak to alumni of an online school or program. But it doesn't have to be! You can complete your college education or start your post secondary education with just a little online research. One of the best ways to find an online education provider is to start with the discipline you're trying to get your degree in.

Said another way, if you're looking for a degree in nursing, than search for online nursing schools on Google or any other search engine. You'll find the most popular results for your discipline. This can save you time and help you to create a short list of schools or programs that may meet your needs.

The other option is to start with large online educators like the University of Phoenix, Strayer, or ITT. The key is to shop around. You want to search for accredited institutions that can meet your needs while providing the best and most affordable education possible.

Finding an online learning provider doesn't have to be difficult. Start learning online by researching online. You'll be attending your online classes quicker than you might think.

Attending College Online

Did you know that you can not only get an online degree from an online school, but you could also get a traditional degree that way too? Then, make a list and start contacting them - email or call. When speaking to schools, ask about their online programs and be sure to write down all the details. Are you planning on attending part time? Most people who choose an online education are attempting to get their degree or complete a degree while working. Online learning is an ideal solution for anyone who's trying to learn in addition to other responsibilities. If you want to attend school full-time, find a classroom.

3. Do you know what you want to use your degree for? Begin with the end in mind. Most successful students know what they want before they dive into an online education. If you don't have a plan, don't waste your money. Going to school online is often as expensive as going to a traditional college so spend wisely.

Getting a degree online isn't for everyone but is certainly the norm today. Don't be afraid to spend some time researching online programs and contacting them for answers to your questions and concerns. Either way, you'll learn more about your options for online learning.

Online Schools - Search No More

When searching for an online school, you can make yourself crazy! As a result, more students owe money upon graduation.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

There are a number of pays to pay off your college debt. Fortunately for those who have taken Federal loans, grace periods and deferments can help you until you find a full time job that allows you to begin making payments against your loan. Regardless of your employment situation, the responsibility of loan repayment is yours and yours alone.

If you are a recent grad and you’re wondering exactly how you are going to pay off your loans, don’t despair. There are a variety of methods you can use. One of the most popular and effective is student loan consolidation. Using student loan consolidation, you group your loans into a single loan which often reduces your monthly payment amount.

Some individuals who consolidate see longer repayment periods. However, a little known method of reducing your payment period is by making one extra payment towards the principle of the loan each and every year. For longer repayment periods, this reduces the amount owed and the life of the loan significantly.

You should start by speaking with your lender. Do they penalize you for early repayment? If so, what are the costs? Balance those against the longer repayment cycle and the potentially tens of thousands of dollars you must pay in interest over the life of the loan. More often than not, banks are willing to accept early payment without penalty.

By making an extra payment directly towards principle, you are attacking the loan at its source, reducing interest expense over the life of the loan. When you make your payments, be sure to write on the check, “towards principle” only. When I sent my additional check in for the first time, they applied it towards the following month’s payment, not exactly what I had in mind.

Once you get things rolling, try to save enough to make a full months payment each December. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not a lot of money but it will have a significant impact on your repayment schedule and amount. One suggestion is to speak to a representative at your lender to see what types of accelerated repayment programs they offer. Even though this is a great option, it’s not one that is widely publicized.

Paying off your college loans seems like an almost impossible task, but isn’t. Stay focused on making your monthly payments one at a time. Before you know it, you will be way into repayment and can explore other options like making an extra payment towards principle annually. This will save you money and help you eliminate your debt.

Online Schools May Be Right For You

The world wide web has made the prospect of completing your degree or getting an education in a new field a reality for many. The number of individuals completing their degrees online continues to grow throughout the world. Whether you are paying for it on your own or are receiving support, online education is available.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Individuals can find online degrees for just about every career imaginable. From more traditional degrees like psychology and English to more hands on types of training like secondary education, online programs are available and utilized by a significant number of students. Online education also provides flexible learning schedules that allow you to learn at your own pace.

Online degrees are becoming more commonplace than ever and in many cases are of the same caliber as degrees from traditional institutions. This is largely due to the fact that most traditional institutions offer online programs and even some online degrees. As a result, domestic and international students continue to participate in online learning.

Online degrees used to be far and few between. Over time online only institutions like the University of Phoenix and Strayer University have begun to attract more and more students who needed a flexible learning approach. With a broader set of offerings, more institutions providing online learning, and better internet connections, online learning is in full swing.

The best part of learning online is that anyone can now make the dream of education a reality. Gone are the days where you had to stop working and focus on education full time. That's not to say that while you are taking on online course you don't work hard. In fact, many online classes are more challenging than traditional ones.

But the fact remains. You can complete your degree or acquire a college degree from the comfort of your own home. A new degree can make you more competitive in the existing workforce or help you transition into a new career. Online schools are very focused on training and job placement, improving your chances of success.

Online schools also provide similar financial options as traditional institutions. Just as you would take out loans to attend a state or private college, online institutions offer similar financial aid packages. Although scholarship dollars are generally in shorter supply, private and Federal loans can help make your online education affordable.

If you want to complete your degree or learn a new trade, online education is a reality. At traditional institutions as well as wholly online schools, some of your learning will be done via the Internet. If you're not yet comfortable learning online, take a few web based courses or programs before you make the plunge into getting your degree online.

Online Schools: Going To School Online

Is going to school online right for you? Many people think that getting your degree online is easier than having to sit in a classroom. For those individuals I ask, "have you ever taken an online course?" If the answer is no, than trust me when I say that going to school online is certainly not easier than a classroom course.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

In fact, for many, it can be more difficult. Going to school online requires a great deal of discipline and resolve. A little known fact is that the drop out rate for online classes is as high if not higher than land based programs. Why? Because going to school online requires the same determination - actually more - than attending class.

Without a physical building to report to or individuals to depend on to get your out of bed in the morning, you must have the discipline to do it on your own. This requires you to set and follow a disciplined schedule of attending online forums, getting and doing your assignments, and completing your tests and quizzed online. Most online courses also have an email requirement.

If you want to get a degree online, do it because it makes sense for your lifestyle. Perhaps you work during the day but want to complete your degree. Don't attend an online school simply because you think it will be easier than attending college full time. If you don't pay back your student loans, the consequences are immense. In fact, it costs more than most can afford. As a result, the majority of individuals going to college today take out multiple loans in order to pay for this significant expense. Regardless of which loans you use to pay for college, you must pay them back upon graduation.

What happens if you don't pay back your loans? Loan defaults continue to rise in today's economy and the impact is very negative for those individuals who cannot or choose not to repay them. Financial difficulties, employment problems, and relationship issues can all result

When you don't pay your loans the impact is rather significant. First and foremost your credit score will be impacted. This information can stay on your credit report for up to five years making it difficult to acquire future loans, credit cards, and so on. Any business you deal with uses a credit score to determine your ability to pay them.

Bad credit not only has negative consequences for your financial well being, but your personal relationships as well. When you are struggling financially, relationships are strained and difficulties persist. When creditors come calling, tensions run high. Do your best to ensure that you are not in this situation. It can start a chain of events that negatively impacts your personal well being and that of your most important relationships.

Even if you are able to recover from a failure to repay your loans, the stigma will stay with you for some time. Building good credit should be your goal and the best way to accomplish this is through making on time payments and only paying for those things for which you already have the money.

Once you default, you are still responsible Student loans are rarely forgiven by lenders or the government. If you lose your job or experience some other change in your status contact your lender before the problem becomes significant. Once people fall behind in there loan payments they almost never catch up.

The good news is that you can work with your lender to restructure your loan payments. There are a variety of repayment options your lender can employ to help you through difficult times. Remember that they want to get paid so they have a vested interest in working with you towards a successful outcome. Again, don't wait until it is too late to do anything. You are better off admitting that you are having repayment problems versus ignoring your bill and hoping it will go away.

Finding An Online School That's Right For You

Finding an online program that meets your educational needs is no small undertaking. That's okay if you have already made the decision to return to college because the most difficult part is done. After making this decision it's time to focus on locating the right program at the right price.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

One of the best ways to chose an online learning program or course is to complete an online search. For individuals who are not quite sure which type of online college can meet their needs, web based research is recommended. If you are looking for business programs, visit a search engine and and type in online business programs. Then, research each of the results.

Create an evaluation list to measure how each school can meet your needs. An evaluation list is a listing of criteria you can use to find the right school. This list should include the aspects of online learning that are most important to you such as time to graduate, requirements, financial aid, and more.

Be disciplined in your evaluation of online schools. Create a spreadsheet and rank them based on which meet your criteria and which do not. Once you have selected the top 2 possibilities, learn more about the school by speaking to someone in the admission office. This is a great way to learn about the school itself, get any questions you might have answered, and determine your fit with the prospective institution.

The application process for any college or online program provides challenges. What you may or may not realize is that you do not have to complete your application on your own. If you are having trouble, contact someone at the school to help. Online Universities are always looking for new students and they are more than willing to help.

Going to school online can be a difficult process. When considering how you are going to pay back your loans, you have many options available. If you are like most students, you have more than one loan. Student loan consolidation is a great way to simplify your repayment process.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Loan consolidation is essentially the process of taking multiple loans from different providers and paying that loan with a single umbrella loan from a single provider. There are significant benefits when you take this approach. The result is a lower payment amount and simple repayment process.

Under loan consolidation, you have a single lender and only one monthly payment to handle. Consolidated loans usually have a few repayments options. You should research these options and decide which works best for your current situation.

Repayment options include standard repayment where you make a fixed sum payment for up to ten years. If the monthly amount is too much for your budget, you can extend your payment for a longer time period of up to 30 years. The third option, which is relatively new to loan consolidation lenders is the graduated repayment schedule.

With graduated repayment, you make payments over an extended time period, much like the extended repayment option, but payments are not fixed. Each year, or every two years, your payment amount increases. This graduated payment schedule is ideal for individuals who need the lowest repayment option available early in the repayment process.

Consider that once a loan is consolidated your interest rate is fixed even though graduated repayment requires a change in this rate every two years. This means that you must make an equal payment each month. This is important when you are repaying a consolidated loan or any loan for that matter. Not repaying your loan in a timely manner can result in default, hurting your credit rating and ability to borrow.

A good way to make sure you pay your loan in a timely manner is by discussing your repayment options with your lender. By using direct deposit and automated withdrawal, your best bet is to have your monthly payments automatically taken from your account each month. By setting up an automatic payment program, you can pay your debt sooner and easier than trying to remember the need to write a check.

When you begin repaying your student loans, consider loan consolidation. Student loan consolidation simplifies the repayment process and gives you flexible repayment options. Consider a budget that allows you to make your payments in a timely manner. More importantly, find a reputable lender who can work with you as you enter the workforce and seek to pay your debt.

Are you ready to learn more about Online Schools? More and more people are considering online degrees to complete work they've already begun or to train for a new job. Online education is quite popular these days. Even traditional schools are offering many of their programs online.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

When considering an online degree for purposes of degree completion or enriching your education, there are a number of factors you should evaluate. You should begin with a clear understanding of what you wish to accomplish through online learning. The objective for many individuals is to acquire the necessary skills to be able to secure a job in a particular field.

Consider the kind of education you need to easily find a job upon graduation. Start by speaking with counselors at both traditional universities and online schools. These counselors can help you understand what types of options are available and what you can expect after graduation. Learn the difference between schools, programs, and the types of outcomes you can expect.

In troubling times, finding a good job can be a challenge. Give some thought to the sectors that are doing well even during a down economy. Industries like medicine and research will most likely continue to generate new jobs. Avoid seasonal types of positions that may be negatively impacted.

As you get closer to selecting the type of online program that will meet your needs, you must consider whether you can complete such a program. Some good questions to ask yourself include whether or not you have the discipline needed to meet the program requirements. Also, can you succeed without being in a physical classroom? Are you okay interacting online. Some people are uncomfortable navigating forums, websites, and so on. But this should not be an obstacle.

After you have reviewed the requirements associated with completing specific classes, take a look at the overall package. How many credits do you need to get your certificate or degree? What are the costs involved both short and long term in order to complete your degree? What is the average salary for someone in the field you are targeting? In short, will your investment pay dividends?

Paying for an online degree program can be accomplished in a variety of ways. Today there are many federal programs that support paying for an online education in addition to school aid and bank loans. Learn about all your payment options from the financial aid officer at the school you are considering. They can help you lay out a plan for meeting your financial obligations.

Once you graduate, you will have many options for paying off your financial obligations. The key is to make sure you find a job quickly and this will only happen if you have planned accordingly. Individuals who graduate with a degree that is in demand get place more quickly than those with less desirable degrees.

Upon graduation, consider your options to consolidate outstanding loans. Even though you may have to take a number of loans from different sources to pay for your online education, loan consolidation can simplify the repayment process and lower your monthly payment.

Before you enroll in an online program or school you can ask the financial aid counselor about your loan repayment options associated with student loans. Loan consolidation should be option for you once you graduate. Sometime there is a short waiting period before you can consolidate.

Completing your degree online is a great option in our current economic climate. Before you jump right in without any preparation, consider whether or not an online education is right for you and how you are going to pay for it.

Going To School Online Isn't For Everyone

Going to school online isn't for everyone. Online schools require discipline. If you're not an organized person or someone who can focus for particular periods of time, then taking online courses may not be for you. Taking classes online require a new level of discipline as you can't hide in a 500 person lecture hall.

2. Get connected. If you need one-on-one social interaction, than think twice before you enroll. Many online programs no longer require in-person meetings. As a result, your online interaction may be limited to email.

3. Is your time flexible? Although you may have to appear for an online chat at a scheduled time, much of your activity will be based on a deadline. This forces you to sometime cancel personal engagements so you can accomplish assignments by a given date or time.

Going to school online isn't for everyone - especially those who work best in a social environment. We often get this question and it's hard to avoid the stigma attached to online degrees. However, learning online has gone a long way. Many traditional institutions offer online learning.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

As a result, online schools and programs are no longer questionable. That is, as long as you make sure that the online school or program you're about to enroll in has met the following criteria.

1. How Long? Has the school been around for 3 or more years? If a school is new, you may want to question it's validity. Schools that are established have worked out most of the bugs and provide access to alumni and other resources.

2. Accredited? Is the school regionally or nationally accredited? If it is, your degree is going to be valued. Getting a degree from a school that is not accredited can be troublesome. Other schools may not accept the credits and your degree could be worthless.

3. Placement? What type of career resources does the school provide. Good online schools and programs offer helpful career planning and placement resources that help you find a job once you graduate.

Before enrolling in any online program, be sure that the above criteria are met. Without meeting these criteria, you degree may not be worth what you pay for it.

How to Get Your Restaurant Management Degree Online

Getting a restaurant management degree is the first step toward working in the restaurant business. A number of colleges and universities offer programs in restaurant management to teach individuals how to run a food service business.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

This type of degree requires a lot of skill, concentration, and determination from the interested individual. Students must learn management skills, operations, marketing, finance, and a variety of business-related areas. These areas are important to creating and maintaining a successful business in the restaurant field.

One of the key requirements for anyone to have in this field is strong people skills. They must be able to work with many different situations, and be able to stay flexible as problems come up. These are just some of the basic skills required for success with restaurant management degrees.

Degrees in the restaurant field prepare the individual to hire and fire people, work on a psychological level with employees to find better ways to make the kitchen work for everyone, and keep up with all the changing standards of the industry.

Restaurant management degrees don't just prepare students to sit back and tell other people what to do. In fact, there is a lot more to management than that. Restaurant managers have the potential to make good money because they work very hard while the business is open and after it is closed.

Getting a quality degree at an online university is important for getting ahead in this field. Make sure that the school you're considering is accredited. You should also learn more about a school's restaurant management degrees by speaking with students who have graduated from the school. This provides first hand information on the potential of the program that is offered through a college.

Learn more about restaurant management and get your degree online. There are a number of online institutions who can provide you with core curriculum and even hands on experience in your local area.

Is An Online Degree Right For You?

Getting an online degree is commonplace these days but not all schools that offer online degrees are accredited - something they must have for your degree to have true meaning. Some schools will offer a Master's online degree, while others will only offer an Associate's online degree. Additionally, some online degrees are only geared toward certificates even though they are labeled as online degrees so beware.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Today, if you want to get a higher paying position, you must have a degree. Getting an online degree makes getting through the class much more convenient for people of many situations; take the stay at home mom for example. While the baby is sleeping, you can be working toward your online degree. Or you can be earning your online degree by going to school while your kids are! How excited do you think your kids will be seeing your papers hanging on the refrigerator next to theirs? What's more is that the options are limitless and you can get your online degree in just about any subject you can imagine.

When it comes to paying for an online school or program, financial aid is available, just as it is for on-campus courses. The federal programs now recognize online degrees and will pay for them. There are certain requirements, however. For example, you must be part of an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's online degree program in order to qualify.

Explore other ways to make college affordable and pay off your debt. One popular resource is the Student Loan Consolidation Blog.

If you're short on time is an issue for you, check into the self-paced online degrees. Self-paced courses offer the flexibility of taking your online degree courses slowly. If you only have a limited amount of time to spend on your online degree, it will take a little longer, but you don't have to worry about missing a class or an assignment.

Going to school online is attainable. Start your research online, find an accredited college or program and apply. The first Internet billionaire, Jim Clark, is a billionaire despite having dropped out when he was just seventeen.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Many stars such as John Travolta also do not have a high school diploma or college degree. Despite these success stories, the best chance for future financial success still lies in completing your education and getting an advanced degree. While getting a college degree is no guarantee of a great paying job or of a job with stability, it certainly increases the odds of success significantly.

So, exactly how much money can you expect to earn if you complete your high school education? How high will your income potential climb if you pursue an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree, or even a master’s degree? While there are no clear cut answers to these questions, one thing is certain. On average, you can expect to earn a great deal more money each time you decide to take your education to the next level.

There are a number of different factors that will play a role in the amount of income you will earn over your lifetime. If you decide to become a teacher and you earn a master’s degree, for example, you may not earn as much as a person with a bachelor’s degree in business. After all, teachers are notoriously known for making little pay when compared to other professional careers. Nonetheless, you are still more likely to make money as a teacher with a master’s degree than if you were someone with only a high school diploma.

The takeaway is simply this. The answers may be easier than you think. Follow these simple strategies to stay focused, enjoy your education, and succeed online.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

1. Organize Your Time. If you’re a busy professional, parent, or someone who is constantly on the go, you need to be realistic and set aside some time to work on your assignments. Just as you would keep an appointment at a doctor’s office, you need to make an appointment with yourself on a regular basis. Set aside a few hours per week or day for your studies.

2. Enjoy Your Education. You need to make sure you enter your studies with a positive attitude and have fun with it. Get excited about your online college course. The time you put into your college degree will be paying off with a great future.

3. Organize Your Course Work. Get yourself organized before you start your online college courses, and do your best to stay organized. Know where your files are. Put your notes in a proper filing system or binder. Save your work on your drive. Print off or save important emails. The more organized you are, the less stress you will feel.

4. Get Involved As Best You Can. Believe it or not, a lot of people throw their hands up in the air, give up, and think they simply aren’t getting it when faced with hard questions in their courses. Stop yourself from thinking you have to know everything. If you are stuck on a question or an assignment, ask questions! Online college courses are usually lead by great instructors and have good resource materials such as online libraries. Get involved. Get to know the other students in your virtual classrooms. Ask for help when you need it. It’s all part of the online college experience!

5. Be Confident That You Will Earn Your Degree. If you are taking an online college course to earn your degree, remember that the work will not complete itself. Every minute you devote to completing your course takes you one step closer to earning your degree. Imagine your career potential as you finish each assignment. Tell yourself you’re doing more than earning a college degree – you’re earning a future.

Stay positive and stay focused. You can succeed in any online school or online program. You can achieve your degree in less time and with less effort when applying yourself and keeping the end in mind. You'll get there!

Career Opportunities Abound With Degrees From Online Schools

Going to school online can provide a number of options to help you advance your career or start a new one. Many online classes are just as tough, if not more so, than they are in traditional school settings.

In fact, a large number of students drop out of online courses - more than traditional institutions.

Online programs appeal to students seeking a degree of flexibility in their coursework. They also appeal to students who think that going to school online is easier than showing up for class.

One student said, "You still had to get your work done on time. In some ways, taking a class online was easy, but there was a lot more work than you would have in a regular class."

Some online programs assign an academic coach to every student who enrolls in a class. Others, provide other forums to support students seeking guidance online. The goal is for the coach to provide support that ensures a student is succeeding with their online coursework.

Regardless of the reason why you might be taking an online program, the truth is that you will be challenged. Keep this in mind before you enroll in an online program and you will be much more prepared and truly successful.

7 Tips For Choosing An Online School or Program

When choosing an online school, there are a number things to consider. Take a good look at a few schools in your discipline and request additional information. In addition, consider these helpful tips:

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

1. Find online colleges that are accredited by the National Educational Association or one of their six regional counterparts. Most online colleges proudly display their accreditation on their Web sites. Accreditation means a lot to other colleges and to potential employers. If a college is not accredited, then it is looked at as inferior because it may not comply with current educational standards.

2. Talk to admission counselors and find out what type of student/teacher support network exists. Ask whether professors can be contacted and if so, how. Also ask questions about computer support. It is important to be able to download all information necessary to complete the course. Lastly, ask about interaction with other students. Finding out about the kind of online community the college hosts may help you decide which college to choose.

3. Read all online degree program descriptions thoroughly that you are interested in and write down specific questions to ask the admissions counselor. Many times, you will be able to find out more by talking with a school representative.

4. Go online and read the testimonials of other students. Mostly, they will be positive, but many offer insights into the learning process, the types of courses, and what they experienced learning online.

5. If you are located near a campus that an online school uses, you should visit the campus and see what it is like. Many times, colleges will let you sit in on a class so that you can see what it is like. Even though your online experience will be different, the lectures will often contain the same information.

6. Speak to the financial aid office. Get a full understanding of all the costs associated with attending the online school or program. Make sure they disclose all fees that you will be required to pay including books, lab fees, etc. Just because the program is online doesn't mean you won't need a text book.

7. Speak to some alumni. No one knows better the value of a school than someone who has recently graduated. Ask the admission office to put you in touch with a recent grad. Some online programs offer this information online.

Choosing and online school or program takes work. Follow the tips outlined above to ensure that you're making the right choice.

Paying For an Online School of Program

You've made up your mind to enroll in an online school or program but the thought of paying the bill still frightens you.

Don't worry, this is a common reaction, and while the price tag might make you flinch now, your education will pay for itself - and then some - over the years. But in the meantime, here are some valuable tips and financial aid information that will help to calm your fears and tackle your education costs.

College Loans, Grants and Tax Credits

Once you've scoured your job and community for college scholarships and have spoken with your school's financial aid office, it's time to hit Uncle Sam up for cash.

FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the largest source of student aid in America. To qualify, you need to demonstrate financial need, be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program and be a US citizen (or eligible non-citizen), according to the FAFSA website.

Federal Pell Grant

Unlike student loans, federal Pell Grants don't need to be repaid. These grants are generally awarded only to undergraduate students or individuals enrolled in a teacher certification program. The amount awarded for this grant depends on a number of factors including school tuition rates, family income, family size, whether a student is part time or full time, and whether a student attends school for the full academic year.

Eligible students must demonstrate financial need, be enrolled or accepted as a student in an eligible degree or certification program, and be a US citizen or resident non-citizen. Students may apply for the Federal Pell Grant by completing a FAFSA application.

Federal Stafford Loan Program

Like the Federal Pell Grant, students become eligible for the Federal Stafford Loan by completing the FAFSA; you can’t get this loan without it. After filing the FAFSA, students generally receive an award letter from their school of choice indicating how much aid they are eligible for, and in what form it will take (i.e., work study, loans, etc.).

Once a student accepts the aid and returns the form to his or her school, he or she will need to fill out an online application for a promissory note to sign and send back to the school for certification. This completes the process.

As you can see, there are many ways to pay for online school. One of your best options is to speak to a financial aid counselor at the school you are applying to. He or she can explain all of your funding options.

Online Schools: Don't Make These Mistakes

So what are the biggest mistakes people make when choosing an online school? These common mistakes should be avoided at all costs. If you do make a mistake, it can really set you back. Beware of the five most common mistakes when choosing an online school.

#1 - Choosing an online school that isn't accredited.

There are plenty of diploma mills and suspect schools lurking on the Internet. A certificate or diploma from a non-accredited school is almost worthless in the workplace, especially the health care field. Because the first thing employers look for is that the school you attended is an accredited institution.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

According to the US Distance Learning Association, accreditation “provides a type of quality assurance necessary for most tuition assistance programs, the transferability of credits earned, and the ultimate recognition of any degree awarded.” Bottom line, make sure the school or program you are choosing is accredited.

#2 - Choosing an online school without first considering an in-person program.

For many individuals, taking an online course has become second nature. They know what to expect and have embraced this form of learning. But if you’re new to it, distance learning can be a bit intimidating at first. Is online learning right for you? Do you have the self-discipline, time management skills and organization abilities to achieve success online? You want to make sure you are comfortable using word-processing software and common Internet browsers, and you should be able to share information electronically before considering an online degree.

The best and easiest way to find out if online learning is for you is to take a sample or demo course. Look on the website of the school you’re considering. Many offer a practice course or demo course so you can see firsthand how it works.

#3 - Choosing a school that doesn't offer a specialization in the field you're interested in.

This mistake is commonly overlooked. It’s a bad sign if the school you’re considering for a
medical career also teaches motorcycle repair, computer technology and interior decorating like some schools do. It might indicate they’re not committed to your learning success. Rather, they’re just trying to cash in on as many popular job occupations as possible. Plus, how can they be experts in all these different areas? The fact is, they can’t. If you want to be a health care professional, choose a school that trains health care professionals only.

When choosing an online school or program, be sure to avoid these common pitfalls. Online schools can provide tremendous value but only if you identify what you need and validate that your online school can provide it to you.

How to Choose The Best Online College or Online School to Help Get the Career You Want

Keep these concepts in mind when thinking about an online school:

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

# 1: Make sure that you meet the requirements of the career you want to enter.

# 2: Be realistic and have a backup plan. It's sometimes easier said than done. One simple way to choose an online school is by program. There are a number of web sites that list online schools for your review but before you use ANY of them.. decide what it is you want.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Do you want a program that is 100% online or something that offers a blend of online and classroom courses? Once you've made that decision, decide what type of degree you want. Are you looking for an associates degree, bachelors, masters, or PhD? What ever type of degree you have in mind, online schools can meet your needs.

Okay, now that you know what type of degree you want and what type of learning program you're seeking you can find the program that's right for you. Do a search in Google that represents what you're looking for. For example: Online nursing programs associate degree.

You will find complete directories like AllNursingSchools or Elearners - two very popular directories that showcase online universities and programs. Search by what you're looking for and complete an inquiry. Online schools are more than willing to send you additional information. You can even call to have your specific questions answered.

The key is to know what you want before you search. If you do, your search is going to be faster and more productive.

Criminal Justice Online Programs: On Online Degree

The criminal justice system provides a way of administrating justice for people who commit crimes. People depend on police officers and detectives to protect their lives and property. Law enforcement officers, some of whom are State or Federal special agents or inspectors, perform these duties in a variety of ways, depending on the size and type of their organization.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Many people who are convicted of crimes are placed on probation instead of being sent to prison. During probation, offenders must stay out of trouble and meet various other requirements. Probation officers, who also may be referred to as community supervision officers in some states, supervise people who have been placed on probation.

Parole officers perform many of the same duties that probation officers perform and also require a criminal justice degree. However, parole officers supervise offenders who have been released from prison on parole to ensure that they comply with the conditions of their parole. In some states the job of parole and probation officer is combined.

Probation officers also spend much of their time working for the courts. They investigate the background of offenders brought before the court, write present reports, and make sentencing recommendations for each offender. Officers review sentencing recommendations with offenders and their families before submitting them to the court. Officers may be required to testify in court as to their findings and recommendations and require certification and a criminal justice degree.

Probation officers usually work with either adults or juveniles exclusively. Only in small, usually rural jurisdictions do probation officers counsel both adults and juveniles. Occasionally, in the Federal courts system, probation officers may undertake the job of a pretrial services officer. Pretrial services officers conduct pretrial investigations and make bond recommendations for defendants.

Correctional treatment specialists work in correctional institutions (jails and prisons) or in parole or probation agencies. Many people think that they do not require any specific credentials, but a criminal justice degree is required for most positions.

In jails and prisons, they evaluate the progress of inmates. They also work with inmates, probation officers, and other agencies to develop parole and release plans. Their case reports are provided to the appropriate parole board when their clients are eligible to be released. In addition, they plan educational and training programs to provide offenders with job skills, and counsel offenders either individually or in groups regarding their coping skills, anger management skills, and drug or sexual abuse.

Criminal justice social workers make recommendations to courts; prepare pre-sentencing assessments; and provide services to prison inmates, parolees, probationers, and their families.

Substance abuse social workers counsel drug and alcohol abusers as they recover from their dependencies. They also arrange for other services that may help clients find employment or get training. They generally are employed in substance abuse treatment and prevention programs.

Sheriffs and deputy sheriffs enforce the law on the county level. Sheriffs are usually elected to their posts and perform duties similar to those of a local or county police chief. Sheriffs' departments tend to be relatively small, most having fewer than 25 sworn officers. A deputy sheriff in a large agency will have law enforcement duties similar to those of officers in urban police departments. Nationwide, nearly 40 percent of full-time sworn deputies are uniformed officers assigned to patrol and respond to calls, 12 percent are investigators, 30 percent are assigned to jail-related duties, and 12 percent perform court-related duties, with the balance in administration. Police and sheriffs' deputies who provide security in city and county courts are sometimes called bailiffs.

State police officers sometimes called State troopers or highway patrol officers arrest criminals Statewide and patrol highways to enforce motor vehicle laws and regulations. Uniformed officers are best known for issuing traffic citations to motorists who violate the law. At the scene of accidents, they may direct traffic, give first aid, and call for emergency equipment. They also write reports used to determine the cause of the accident. State police officers are frequently called upon to render assistance to other law enforcement agencies, especially those in rural areas or small towns.

State law enforcement agencies operate in every State except Hawaii. Seventy percent of the full-time sworn personnel in the 49 State police agencies are uniformed officers who regularly patrol and respond to calls for service. Fifteen percent are investigators; 2 percent are assigned to court-related duties; and the remaining 13 percent work in administrative or other assignments.

The federal government maintains a high profile in many areas of law enforcement. The U.S. Department of Justice is the largest employer of sworn Federal officers. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents are the Government's principal investigators, responsible for investigating violations of more than 260 statutes and conducting sensitive national security investigations. Agents may conduct surveillance, monitor court-authorized wiretaps, examine business records, investigate white-collar crime, track the interstate movement of stolen property, collect evidence of espionage activities, or participate in sensitive undercover assignments. The FBI investigates organized crime, public corruption, financial crime, fraud against the government, bribery, copyright infringement, civil rights violations, bank robbery, extortion, kidnapping, air piracy, terrorism, espionage, interstate criminal activity, drug trafficking, and other violations of Federal statutes.

U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents enforce laws and regulations relating to illegal drugs. Not only is the DEA the lead agency for domestic enforcement of Federal drug laws, it also has sole responsibility for coordinating and pursuing U.S. drug investigations abroad. Agents may conduct complex criminal investigations, carry out surveillance of criminals, and infiltrate illicit drug organizations using undercover techniques.

U.S. marshals and deputy marshals protect the Federal courts and ensure the effective operation of the judicial system. They provide protection for the Federal judiciary, transport Federal prisoners, protect Federal witnesses, and manage assets seized from criminal enterprises. They enjoy the widest jurisdiction of any Federal law enforcement agency and are involved to some degree in nearly all Federal law enforcement efforts. In addition, U.S. marshals pursue and arrest Federal fugitives.

These are many of the positions that are available with those who hold criminal justice degrees. The list is ever expanding with the advent of new fields of study. Online schools are now offering more online criminal justice online programs than ever.

Talking To Professors Before You're Admited To Online Graduate Programs

If you're looking for an online school, especially a graduate program, it's probably a good idea to speak to both administrator and professors. Talking to people can create a great advantage. The conversations you’ve shared with faculty at your prospective schools will play an important part come decision time.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

The usual graduate program receives only hundreds—not thousands—of applications each year. This is a growing trend among online schools as well. Out of these hundreds of applicants, a program might extend offers of admission to a few dozen, expecting some of those admitted to choose other schools.

It's quite common that a number of candidates is small enough that the admissions committee can expect to meet, or at least talk to, a significant portion. Faculty members who are not on the admissions committee often lobby it to admit preferred candidates. So trying to strike a conversation works to your benefit.

To put together the strongest possible application, you have to be a go-getter or appear to be one. This means getting in touch with professors at your prospective schools and making your research interests and career intentions clear to them. If you've done some thinking about what you want from a graduate program, the faculty will sense your clarity and direction.

Remember to stick to the positives when you talk about yourself. Though you should be prepared to discuss your shortcomings, don't volunteer them yourself.

Make sure that you have a clear sense of what you’d like to get out of each conversation. It’s best to have a few specific, carefully-chosen questions prepared. Practice discussing your background and interests. Professors will be more likely to advocate for you if you’re articulate, friendly and respectful of their time.

The benefit is that you show your interest which is an essential aspect that the admission committee will be looking for. Try to make at least three contacts to the school by calling and asking for names and contact information. You'd be glad you did and getting admitted to online schools will be easier.

10 Questions To Ask Before Enrolling In Online Schools

Thinking about an online education? Before you enroll, take a few minutes to interview the school of your choice. Asking the right questions upfront can ensure that the school is a perfect match for you.

Once you’ve asked the following questions, as well as a few of your own, you’ll have a pretty good idea about whether or not you want to enroll.

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

1. Is this school accredited? What type of accreditation is it? Make sure that your school is accredited by the correct regional association. If it is not properly accredited, your degree may be rejected by the majority of employers.

2. If the school is not accreditated, when will it be reviewed for accreditation? If your school is not accredited, it may be in the process of scheduling a review. Check to see if accreditation is in its future.

3. How much is the full tuition bill? Are there any additional fees or hidden costs that have not been explained? Your tuition should be comparable to that of regular universities, perhaps slightly less. Make sure that you won’t be overcharged or stuck with mandatory fees.

4. How many students does each teacher work with online? Teachers who are assigned too many students will have less time to work with individuals who need help. Making sure your teachers are not overburdened can help you get the education you deserve.

5. What hardware is required? Most online classes require that students have access to a computer that is has the ability to run up-to-date multimedia and word processing programs. If your computer is too old, it may not work with your online program.

6. What education, credentials, and experience do your teachers have? If teachers will be grading your work directly or leading you in online discussions, it's very important that they have the knowledge necessary to do the job. The majority of junior college teachers have at least a Master's degree in the subject they teach, and the majority of university professors have a PhD in their area of expertise. Distance education teachers should have comparable experience.

7. Will I need to purchase any additional software? A lot of online programs provide all the materials you need directly from their site. A few request that their students buy supplemental software on their own.

8. What degrees are offered by this Institution? Not every program offers every degree. Before you enroll, make sure that your school offers the degree that you are looking for.

9. How long does it take to complete your degree or specific program you're interested in? Some online schools offer students the chance to complete a degree in less time. Some students are even able to finish an entire year early.

10. Can you complete your course at your own pace or is it highly structured. Depending on your learning style, you may seek a lot of flexibility or the discipline of a well organized class. Fid the program type that's right for you.

These questions are valuable to ask before enrolling in any online schools or programs. Be sure to ask these questions up front and acquire the knowledge you need to succeed in an online program.

Choosing Online Schools Made Easy

Choosing the right school is important.
